Just thinking....

"The Bible calls debt a curse and children a blessing; but in our culture, we apply for a curse and reject blessings. Something is wrong with this picture." Doug Phillips

I found this quote on one of the blogs I visit.  It is so true.  We are so worried about keeping up with everyone else that we forget what is really important... our family.  Jonathan will be a year old soon, so my baby days are almost over.  Boy, it makes me want to sit down and cry!  There is such a negative viewpoint from the world in general when it comes to little ones.  They drain the bank account, keep you from traveling to exotic places, rob you of your sleep, blah... blah... blah!  Yes, it does take a lot of money to raise little ones.  That hit me hard when I called to put Andrew on our auto insurance... OUCH!!!!  The checkbook even cried! :o)  Yes, little ones do limit your travel options, but they open up your eyes to the wonderful things around you.  I loved hearing the kids get all excited about our quick trip to the mountains on Monday.  It didn't break the bank, but the memories are priceless.  Yes, they do require many sleepless nights, but there is nothing like snuggling up with the little ones when they wake up scared.  Our sleepless nights will continue as we enter a new phase in parenting... a new driver.  But those sleepless nights waiting for that teen can bring you closer to God... praying for safety and guidance in decisions that child is faced with when they are out in the world or praying for God's comfort as you watch your teen become an adult.

So, are those "things" we think we have to have more important?  I too was guilty of wanting things and was willing to put aside having another baby to get it, but God had other plans and we now have our beautiful Laura.  She is so much better than a car!  I know my view on children is not the view the world has.  Some even think I'm crazy for my small army.  But just think... you can't take your worldly possessions with you when this life is over, but I can spend Eternity with my children if they continue to follow God's plan for their lives.  Just a thought!

Love ya bunches!
