Progress being made...

Most of you know that learning to read has been a struggle for Emily.  It just didn't click with her last year, so I decided to back away from it for a while (one of the perks of homeschooling.)  Oh, I rejoice with you if your child was reading by age 3 or 4, but my child is not your child.  I will continue to go by my child's own timeline instead of what others think is "appropriate."  Education is NOT one size fits all... just ask any teacher.  Okay, off my soap box.  Emily LOVES books, but she wasn't ready to read and I wasn't going to force something that would destroy that love for books.  Want to see all of my kids excited, let them find out the Book Fairy has sent the Book Elf with a package! :o)  At Christmas, my sister Sarah (lovingly referred to as BooBoo- from Yogi Bear- by my chillrens) bought Emi couple of Read with Dick and Jane books.  Laura had worked with her a little on the books, and last night I sat down with her to let her read the bedtime story.  She read the entire book.  She was sooooooo excited and so was I!  Thank you God for a small victory!!!  Now I'm just holding my breath until I start working with JJ on reading... that should be interesting.  Get ready for some wild stories on that one!

I love E! Well, you know she does everything in her OWN time (just like Aunt Lissa)!

Yes, some days just a little too much like Aunt Lissa. :o) Thank you for calling her. She loved reading to you.
